Sunday Evening Hours...

It's all about convenience.

We thought long and hard about implementing Sunday hours. We asked and listened when residents noted how convenient it would be to have the option for Sunday visits. After reviewing when other neighboring libraries are open on Sundays (typically 1-5 p.m.) we decided to try something unique. Homer Library is open Sunday evenings from 4-8 p.m. Growing visit statistics show that timeframe to be a success and extends the regular library hours that we are open. (Hotlink to http://www.homerlibrary.org/hours.asp)

More than 600 people visit the library each day. As you wind down your weekend and prepare for the coming week remember we are open Sunday evenings with a friendly staff ready to assist you. We hope you find Sundays as popular and convenient as our 8:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday "early-bird" morning hours.

Of course our online resources are available around the clock: http://www.homerlibrary.org/findit.asp

September report to the Library Board.

The Library Board meets monthly, usually on the 4th Monday. This month, that's tonight. A schedule -- with links to meeting agendas and minutes, and my reports to the Board -- may be found on the Library Board page of our site. Here's a direct link to my September report (Word format).

Did you see the Library at Community Expo?

Library at Homer Community ExpoWe hope you were one of the 1,000 visitors who attended the recent Homer Community Expo & Health Fair. We featured our Bookmobile on display outside and enjoyed visiting with you at our booth indoors. I am pictured at right with Homer Chamber of Commerce President Diane Seiler. Our eye-catching library booth is below.

It was a great opportunity to showcase your library!

Get carded this month!

We have lots of visitors to the library -- like Gianna, who brought her new puppy to the library! Check out more library photos at http://www.flickr.com/photos/homerlibrary/.

September is Library Card Sign-up Month, and we have added the convenience of a new online form people may use to apply for library cards. Your card provides access to our many online resources as well as in-house materials.

We'll also be taking library card applications at Homer Community Expo at Hadley School on September 16; we'll have a table inside, and our Bookmobile will be out in the school parking lot during Expo.

Celebrated throughout the month of September, National Library Card Sign-up Month encourages everyone to check out what's new at the library. We offer more than just books; we are your community center. Lots of activities and programs are planned for this Fall and we hope to see you soon!

The Smartest Card is @ your library (R)! Get it, use it at Homer Township Library.
